Presentation Day

Today, half the class had to present their PowerPoint Presentations. I was one of them. I felt very uncomfortable throughout the whole thing. Mr. Wu was trying to get my attention from the back of the class and when he did, I felt a bit more relaxed. I don't know why though. When I was not looking at the screen anymore, it helped me speak more clearly and confident. Even though I looked a couple more times, I didn't have to. I did it because I wanted to make sure I was giving information about the right slide. There will be another presentation and I will better prepare myself for it.

  2. You did really well and your presentation was very interesting. I learned so much about saltwater fish, invertebrates and how to maintain a saltwater fish tank. I was nervous myself, but when Mr. Wu was trying to get my attention too I actually thought he meant to hurry that I was running out of time so I speed it up. haha! Now I know what I lacked, "audience engagement". So next time we should rehearse, not just scan through the slides. Good Luck on our next presentation :)

  3. It helps me to focus on what I'm saying more then to focus looking. I was looking at everyone but more thinking then looking. Try visualizing what you are going to say and maybe it will help you to.

  4. Glad you became more relaxed, Thai :-) Yes, looking at the screen just takes your focus away from the audience, more importantly, you force your brain to take in what's on the slides instead of letting your brain focus on presenting what it wants to convey to the audience. Thank you for educating us on some of the creatures that live in saltwater aquariums.
